The Midwest Ag Energy Network

The Midwest Ag Energy Network was launched in February 2005. The purpose of the Midwest Ag Energy Network was to coordinate outreach and education among regional agriculture industry leaders about renewable and low carbon energy policy and technology development to build a broad base of ag industry-led support for state and federal climate and energy policy. In July, 2008 the Midwest Ag Energy Network moved to the Great Plains Institute to better reflect the initiative’s regional nature.

For a number of reasons related to the changing demands of regional and national energy policy strategies, GPI decided to discontinue the Midwest Ag Energy Network in 2009 and re-allocate its resources to other ag and energy related programs. The work done by this project--namely proceedings from conferences, white papers, and other written documents--remains on the GPI website to inform future ag energy policy strategies.
